Q4: I just received my eyeglass prescription can I order contacts from it ?
A4: Your eyeglass prescription only has the power part (SPH) of the contact lens prescription. In addition to the power the proper base curve (BC) and diameter (DIA) are needed to order contact lenses. Contact lenses come in different sizes and must be fit to your eye by an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist. As a Contact Lens replacement center, we can only sell you contact lenses that you are already wearing successfully. Once you have a prescription for contact lenses, simply visit the AALens.com web site and one of our knowledgeable representatives will help you save up to 50%.
Q5: How long is my contact lens prescription valid?
A5: Contact lens prescriptions are valid for as long as your doctor or eye care provider prescribes. This can be as long as 2 years and can vary widely depending on the regulations in the state that you live in, as well as your doctor's recommendations for you. Please speak with your eye care provider to see how long your contact lens prescription is valid.
Q6: I don't see the contacts that I need.
A6: Although we carry most major brands and types of contact lenses, we currently do not list every contact lens available online. If you are not able to locate your brand please contact us via e-mail at info@aalens.com. We will be happy to assist you.
Q7: How can I tell if my prescription is for contacts?
A7: Since contact lenses are prescribed by brand, an easy way to know for sure if you have a contact lens prescription is to look for the actual name of your contact lenses on your prescription (an eyeglasses prescription will not have this information). In addition, a contact lens prescription will usually include the power, base curve, diameter and other specific information for your contact lenses.
Q8: Can I wear contacts with an astigmatic condition?
A8: It may be possible for you to be fitted for contact lenses that correct your astigmatism. These lenses are referred to as Toric contact lenses. Please consult your doctor or eye care professional to see if you can benefit from this type of corrective lens.
Q9: Can I wear contacts that belong to someone else?
A9: NO! It is definitely not a good idea to try on or wear someone else's contact lenses. Contact lenses are regulated as medically prescribed devices that require a prescription for purchase. In addition, the sharing of contact lenses may result in the spread of micro-organisms that may prove to be detrimental to your eye health. You should only wear contact lenses prescribed specifically for you under the close supervision of a qualified eye care professional.
Q10: Can I sleep in my contacts?
A10: You should only sleep in your contacts or wear them for extended periods of time if your doctor or Eyecare professional recommends this. Please consult your doctor before sleeping in your contacts to make sure that it is okay for you to do so.
Q11: Can contact lenses cause damage to my eye?
A11: When prescribed and worn properly, most people can wear contact lenses for years with little or no problems or difficulties. However you should ALWAYS consult your doctor at the first hint of discomfort or redness.
Q12: Is it safe to use my credit card on line?
A12: Yes, it's extremely safe. Our e-commerce system uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) - the industry standard for encryption technology. It is used to create a secure transaction environment for commerce on the Internet. If your browser and local network support the use of encrypted data transmissions, our Secure Checkout mode locks all information (i.e.: your credit card number) passed from you to our Payment Gateway – WorldPay or PayPal - in an encrypted envelope, making it extremely difficult to be intercepted by an unauthorized party. SSL technology is compatible with Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome and most other browsers.
